Social News Update for May

On 6th May a group of intrepid Club members went on the Spring Ramble.  We met at the car park at Dovedale and under the guidance of John Blake took up into the hills of Derbyshire. Points of interest visited included St Bertram’s Well, Ilam Rock, Lover’s Leap and the Stepping Stones. There were a couple of stops for refreshment along the way. Despite the cold, grey weather (but luckily no rain!) all involved had a great time.

Don’t forget the 9th June Sail and Sizzle evening when our former Club Manager Mick and his wife Lyn are visiting the UK from their new home in Australia and will be at the club that evening to meet old friends. We will still offer the usual DIY barbeque but also have the Galley present serving food (book food with them in advance if you are interested).

We are firming up the details for the Club’s 25th anniversary weekend on 1st and 2nd July. On Saturday evening we are having a big party with a professionally prepared and served barbeque, live music, a raffle in aid of Sailability and lots of dancing. The bar will be well stocked in advance. Tickets will be on sale soon.
Look out for posters around the Club and also refer to the website for more details. The Social Team, Sailability and the Sailing Committee are working together to make this a weekend to remember, so keep the date clear.

I look forward to meeting many of you at these events and around the Club.

All the best
