Solo and Wednesday afternoon news

Dear all,

We are getting closer to the end of the 2017 season at Carsington and during the last few weeks we have been so fortunate with the weather, the Solo fleet core has been enjoying great racing on both Sunday’s and Wednesday afternoons. Long may it last.

Malcolm Hall has set up a WhatsApp Wednesday group which extends out to all fleets and includes Sailability, thanks Malcolm. If anyone would like to be added to the message system please let me know. The more the merrier!!!!!!!!!!

Basically on Monday evening prior to the Wednesday PM races I have a look at the weather forecast and decide if we are holding races on the Wednesday and in liaison with Ceri what time the race start times will be, when of course It’s up to members.

So far the turnouts have been great and all seem to be enjoying the MH  “Mixed Handicap one start Wednesday series”. I should add a thank you to all volunteering OOD’s and Clive for his assistance with setting the start line and getting keel boats through the weed.

We also have to say a big thank you to Lawrence Key, Lawrence has spent so much time at the club using the new working boat laying new turning marks 10 and 11, replacing with new kit all the missing committee boat moorings, inspecting and repairing ground tackle on existing turning mark, making repairs to our committee boat, I could go on but it’s time for all of us to say a big thank you to Lawrence.

The new turning marks are being used and have helped OOD’s to improve racing courses and lap lengths to suit wind speeds.

Finally can I please use this opportunity to wish all a Merry Xmas, good health and good sailing in 2018.

We still have 9 race day  opportunities to race before Xmas, weather permitting.
