The RYA is a National Operating Authority (NOA) for the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award.  Carsington Sailing Club is signed up to the scheme and was the first RYA DofE Centre to be accredited.

In short all sections of the award (Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and Residential) can now be completed via dinghy sailing at all levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold).
Carsington Sailing Club runs a very active DofE Centre.  Experience has shown that it is very difficult for all Participants to come together to meet as a complete group on a regular basis.
Therefore, rather than hold regular scheduled meetings we meet up as and when needed, for example, when planning an expedition or training for an up and coming expedition.
Those Participants who require individual support with their DofE Programme can ask for assistance by making an appointment to meet at the sailing club during normal opening hours using the email address  We will always be happy to help.
The venue for all meetings is the 'The Galley' within the main club room.
The DofE Group also has its own section within the forum of the Club’s website.  The forum is the principal means of communication within the Group.  Please visit the forum and register as a user so that you can post correspondence.  From now on all news and information for the DofE Group will be posted in the forum and not on this webpage.
New participants are always very welcome to join the group and if you have and questions please click on this link to contact us by email.

Doing the DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end – it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from.  You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by!
