Youth Development and Race Training.

Once you have learnt to sail a boat and progressed through your RYA stages 1 and 2, plus you have gained a degree of experience and confidence in the Saturday Club, the club offers the opportunity for Young Sailors to improve and develop their sailing skills to the next level.

These training sessions are individually designed for each young sailor to suit their ability and aspirations. In addition they are used to progress you through the RYA levels stages 3 and 4.
Progress is monitored throughout the year and at the end of each season a plan for the coming year is discussed with each sailor

Training sessions also work on making you sail faster, by improving your boat handling technique.
Tactics and Racing Rules are also covered, which are crucial when racing.

Youth Racing.

Once you have progressed to the Youth Development Squad, the opportunity for racing offers an extra element of fun.

Young Sailors are encouraged to take part in Saturday Afternoon Racing which take place alongside the Cruiser Fleet Racing.

During these afternoons you will be able to put into practice the skills learned in the Youth Development Training and you will develop and hone the skills required to make your boat finish first across the line.

Many young sailors from Carsington have gone on into the Derbyshire Youth and RYA Zone Squads where they have further developed their skills.
These squads regularly hold weekend training and racing events a Carsington.
