The season is well underway, in fact the Spring Series has finished and the Summer 1 Series starts for dinghies on Sunday 23rd May - same format as we had in the Spring Series.

The Cruiser Summer Series starts on Saturday 22nd May.

Unfortunately the weather doesn't look like summer series weather at the moment, but let's hope it improves.

Well done to the winners in the Spring Series shown below. There's a familiar ring to these names, so it's up to the rest of us to get in amongst them !

  • Morning Asymmetric - Richard Harvey / Mick Steer, K6 113
  • Morning Medium - Richard Sims, Phantom 1447
  • Morning SJ - John Webster, Solo 5842
  • Afternoon Medium - Richard Sims, Phantom 1447
  • Afternoon SJ - John Webster, Solo 5842

We could do with more asymmetrics turning out on Sunday Afternoons, there was only one day in the Spring Series when they raced so no qualifiers for the series.

We have also held our first open meeting. There were 27 entries for the RS400 Open Meeting held on 15th / 16th May, including 8 Carsington boats. The event was won by Dave Exley & Alistair Coates from Leigh & Lowton. Well done to Mike Sims of Carsington, finishing 3rd overall. Yachts & Yachting Report RS400 open meeting

Over the weekend of 22nd / 23rd May it is the K1 Inlands and Lightning Nationals - currently there are 22 entries for the K1s and 15 Lightnings.
Whilst the RS400s had very light winds last weekend, it looks like the K1s & Lightnings will have to master some wet and gusty weather.

A lot of work goes into arranging these open meetings so thank you and well done to John Cunningham for organising the very successful RS400 open meeting and to Alf Hawksworth for organising the K1 & Lightning event.

Also congratulations to Will Gould who won the Blaze Northern Championships at Dee Sailing Club over the weekend of 15th / 16th May. Yachts & Yachting Report Blaze Northern Championships

Coming up soon we have a Supernova & Comet Open Meeting on Sunday 6th June, Hansa TT on Wednesday 23rd June, then the Commodores Cup 10th & 11th July - details to follow.
