Solo Open report Carsington July 27th,
16 Solo’s raced in not ideal conditions the rain was cold and the wind tricky. A phenomenon we usually associate with the winter “the water felt warm to your hands”and most said how cold they felt at the end of 3 races BtoB. That said the racing was very close.
Race 1 was won by Chris Brown, the race was short but Chris wasn’t complaining. Race 2 Martin Honnor got into the lead early on and then covered the opposition all the way through to win.
In both races 1 and 2 Tony Wetherell in a borrowed Solo was thereabouts getting 2 second places.
Race 3 The Decider, Tony got to the windward mark 1st as the wind got lighter, thankfully the rain had stopped. there were lots of place changes behind Tony which helped him increase his lead to win both race 3 and the Open.
Well sailed Tony and great to see you again, how many years since Scorpions??
John Webster.
