This is the first course in the RYA Wing-Surfing Scheme, providing the basic introduction to wingsurfing. It sets the foundations that enable students to take the next steps of achieving first foiling takeoffs and glides. 

There is no pre-requisite, but knowledge in wind-sports and/or foiling will help accelerate progression.

By the end of this course the student will have a good understanding of the equipment used and recommended; how to launch and land safely as well as perform a self-rescue. They will learn how to fly and control the wing on land initially, progressing to a board without a hydrofoil, before introducing a foil in the First Flights course, once ready.
