| To all Members, Following the announcement of the lockdown, which starts today, we have been monitoring government guidelines and advice from the RYA. These have been developing over the last couple of days, which has unfortunately made it difficult to make an early decision. Here is a LINK to the RYA summary/guide to the 'New national restrictions in England from 5th November' which includes that: - Outdoor sports centres and amenities (which includes sailing clubs and watersports centres) will have to close
- Members may be able to access boats for essential checks and maintenance, however, this will need to be agreed with their club with individuals taking personal responsibility for meeting Government guidance
The news therefore isn't good. Given the Government restrictions and RYA guidance, the Club will remain closed with immediate effect.
Access is permitted to site, but only for essential maintenance and repairs. This doesn't include grass cutting, boat washing, or anything else that can reasonably be expected to wait until the lockdown ends. Ceri and Sallie will be periodically checking boats on site. If there is an issue with a boat which they determine essential, they will contact the member directly to arrange site access. If any member believes that they have an essential reason for attending their boat, please contact the office by email or phone and wait for Ceri or Sallie to contact you (leave a message on the answerphone if they are not available). Site access will be granted at their discretion. Please note that the club gates will be locked and there will be no access unless previously agreed with Ceri and Sallie. Please do not come to the club expecting access if it has not been agreed with them.
At the moment the assumption is that the club will reopen on the 2nd December, however this could change depending upon government communications. As restrictions change we will of course review the situation and communicate this with members via the website, Facebook, and club news bulletin.
