During the January break Sailability members have continued to meet off site. The weekly meetings have been used to consider a number of topics aimed at developing the Sailability operation at Carsington. The discussions covered the associations legal status, structure and relationship within Carsington Sailing Club, the organisation as a Charity, the specific operating Procedures and how they interface with those of the sailing club, the groups funding and promotion. The results will be used to further improve the way Sailability operates, increase membership and develop internal and external relationships.

In recent years the weather has allowed the group to start sailing early in the year, this year has turned out to be somewhat different! So the group have been busy cleaning and maintaining the fleet. To complement the work done by work parties during January, the group have been tidying areas used to berth boats. Our sailing calendar is filling up quickly and is integrated with the clubs Sailing Club Management system. We hope to be on the water very soon.

The group have been looking for ways to make the launching and retrieving boats easier and soon we will take delivery of a specially adapted wheelchair which will be used as a Boat Tug. Being a wheelchair will allow mobility impaired members to be involved in this aspect of the operation, something we have not been able to do in the past.

As always we welcome club members who feel getting involved with Sailability as sailing members or volunteers would be a benefit to them, to contact us via the office or by speaking to any sailability member.

So all in all we are ready for a new sailing season and look forward to another successful year.
