October Work Parties  -  Site Maintenance - Bushes/Hedging Cut Back

During October we propose to concentrate on cutting back the vegetation at the Club bushes and overgrown hedging.

We are looking for work party volunteers (duty vouchers will be available) to assist using either bow saws, pruning saws, or loppers plus dragging and stacking the brash. In addition there is some hedge trimming to be carried out where we did the work in the spring and dragging/moving brash to the shore.

Work party volunteers will need to provide their own safety equipment (boots, gloves, work clothes, etc). If you have a bow saw, pruning saw or loppers please bring them as we have limited equipment available. The brash from the work will be stored on site on the shore as it will be used for the bonfire event being held on November 6th.

A safety briefing and work instructions will be given prior to any work being carried out

The work is being carried out on a Friday/Monday for safety reasons there are only a small number of members present on site at this time and it will be easy to cordon off the work area to minimize any risk to other site users. At weekends the site is busy especially with courses, open events and racing making it very difficult to carry out these works safely and without disrupting those on site.

The work is planned for the following Monday/Fridays (depending on weather) from 1000hrs to 1600hrs:

  • October 11th (Monday)
  • October 15th
  • October 18th (Monday)
  • October 29th

Members interested in volunteering should email Ceri and let him know you will be coming, together with your contact number, so we have an idea of numbers. You will also be able to sign on the Duty Roster.
We are looking for about 10 volunteers per session.

If you have any questions regarding this work please do not hesitate to contact Andy Banks (andy5216@btinternet.com).

Please do not bring any hand operated power tools (i.e. chain saws) unless you can provide a copy of a current up to date licence.

Regards
Andy Banks
